Ney : Egyptian Professional Ney Nay Flute Woodwind FULL Set 7 pcs by ALSAID BAYOMY lv2 This is an original Full set of handmade Egyptian Neys containing 7 nays. made by ALSAID BAYOMY one of the famous Ney maker in the Middle East Each Ney coming with the maker signature. The set made out of Egyptian hollow reeds with a metal wire band on the top ends. Sizes from 27.5" to 16" Aprox. (69 cm. - 40.6 cm.) The Kerdene is called a "C" instrument. That means that the second lowest note is a C (the first being a Bb). The second is the Doga in D. The third is the Boussalik in E. The fourth is the Jaharka for F. The fifth is the Nawa for G; The sixth is Husseini for A, The seventh is the Ajam for B. Nays has 7 holes, one of which is on the back and usually closed with the thumb. Each hole has practically a whole tone interval capacity so that for example, if you play a D you can easily go to D sharp with the only movement of your lips and amount of air you blow, and you may even play an E if you move the instrument and blow more strongly. The thumb hole usually allows playing 4 notes . For the Doga (D) nay these notes would be A, Bb, B3/4, and B.... Kawala : Egyptian Kawala Qawwāl Flute Woodwind FULL Set 12 pcs ALSAID BAYOMY This is an original Full set of handmade Egyptian KAWALA containing 12 nays. made by ALSAID BAYOMY one of the famous Ney / Kawala maker in the Middle East Each KAWALA coming with the maker signature. The set made out of Egyptian hollow reeds with a copper wire band on both ends. Sizes from 26" to 9.5" Aprox. (66 cm. - 24 cm.). This kawala is made from a straight open-ended stalk of aged reed with three segments articulated by two nodes, which must be bored out to make a cylindrical bore. In comparison to the Egyptian nāy, the kawala is shorter and has a wider bore. The rim at one end of the stalk is beveled to a sharp edge, which serves as the target of the air stream provided by the performer; it is therefore an end-blown flute. The instrument has six finger holes . A band of copper wire just below the beveled rim discourages the splitting of the reed.
