Overview
I'm a certified electrician with over 20 years of experience in trades, construction, and building maintenance—first in New Zealand, and now in Alberta. Since moving to Canada, I've worked on commercial and residential solar installations, remote camps, commercial facilities and oil and gas plants, maintaining everything from fire alarms and water systems to commercial kitchen equipment and electrical infrastructure. I understand the full life cycle of a building—from construction to day-to-day operations. I help students and new immigrants find their first jobs in Alberta's construction and facilities sector. That includes roles in the trades, building operations, and maintenance. I know what it's like to start fresh in a new country, and I use that experience to help others navigate certifications, find the right employers, and understand what to expect on the job. As a mentor, I focus on practical steps. I work with mentees to set goals, build resumes, and prepare for interviews. I also help them understand Alberta's safety codes and workplace standards, so they're ready to hit the ground running. My goal is to help people avoid common setbacks, build confidence, and land jobs that match their skills and strengths.
